At Auto Show 2018, FAW-Hongqi released the first new energy SUV concept car, the Hongqi E-HS3. Recently, IIA learnt from FAW-Hongqi that the red flag E-HS3 has officially rolled out. As the first pure electric SUV, the launch of the E-HS3 is an important step for the brand to implement the new energy plan, reflecting the determination to develop new energy fields.

Official Roll-out of the Hongqi E-HS3

The roll-out of the first pure electric SUV of the Hongqi brand at FAW-Hongqi production base not only represented the march of the Hongqi products from the traditional power to the new energy field, but also represented the practical actions of implementing the new Hongqi brand strategy.

In terms of exterior, the E-HS3 adopts a family style design. The large-size straight waterfall grille is chrome-plated. The integrated light set and smooth lines create a good design.

The taillights feature a popular light strip, and the spoiler at the rear brings a sporty feel. In terms of size, the new car has a length, width and height of 4490mm, 1874mm, and 1613mm respectively. And it is a 5-seat layout car with a wheelbase of 2,750mm.

Interior. The overall design of the E-HS3 is simple but splendid, and the center console adopts a dual-screen design to create a sense of technology. The metal steering design is used under the multi-function steering wheel, and the word “Hongqi” is decorated in the center of the steering wheel. In addition, there is a one-key start button and an electronic handbrake button in the bar area.

In terms of power, the E-HS3 will be equipped with two permanent magnet synchronous motors, each with a maximum power of 114kW. It also equipped with a ternary lithium-ion battery, providing a cruising range of up to 390km.

Accelerate implementation of Hongqi new engery plan

In this October, the FAW-Hongqi officially released its technology brand - R.Flag. The brand will focus on the four directions of electrification, interconnectivity, experiencing and sharing, and proposed four strategic plans, which are i.RFlag, e.RFlag, 5f.RFlag and m.RFlag.

In the field of new energy vehicles, the Hongqi e.RFlag will realize fully electrification of all its models. The brand launched its first pure electric vehicle in 2018. It is expected to launch a series of electric vehicles with a cruising range of 600 kilometers by 2020 and 15 electric models by 2025.

The Hongqi E-HS3 is expected to be launched in April 2019.

The E-HS3 is one of the three SUVs that the Hongqi brand will launch in 2019. It is the first work launched after the judgment of the future development trend and the possibility of vehicles. It is also an important achievement of Hongqi's new energy strategy.
